The community
Crosswinds is one of Kyle’s value-tier master plans, sitting minutes from the I-35/SH-45 interchange with about 130 acres of green space threaded through the plan. The amenity center — pool with sunbathing shelves, splash pad, playground, dog park, pavilion — is built and operating, which matters at this price point where some competitors are still selling site plans.
As of mid-2026 the community was actively selling with dozens of quick-move-in homes standing. That’s useful leverage for a buyer: standing inventory plus multiple builders usually means real negotiating room on closing costs and rate buydowns. It also means you should study resale comps in the older sections before paying list on a new release.
The homes
Production homes, value-engineered. Pacesetter, Milestone, and Highland Homes were the active names in July 2026 — rosters rotate by phase, so verify the current lineup. Published pricing ran from roughly $307K to the mid $400s, with homes from about 1,500 to 2,750 square feet on 40- and 50-foot lots.
The average product is a modest one- or two-story home close to its neighbors, builder-grade finishes, young trees. Highland’s 50-foot sections sit at the top of the community’s range and are the step-up product here. If your budget stretches to the $500s, 6 Creeks across the interstate offers wider lots and a heavier builder roster for the difference.
Location, schools, and the drive
Crosswinds feeds Hays CISD — verify the current campus assignments, which shift as the district grows. The location is the honest selling point: about 20 minutes to south Austin employment, 15 to San Marcos and Texas State, with both I-35 and SH-45 within a few minutes’ drive. Kyle’s H-E-B Plus, the hospital, and the Kyle Crossing retail cluster are all under 10 minutes. The trade-off for that access is proximity itself — sections nearest the interstate pick up road hum, so walk the lot at rush hour.
