The community
Trinity Ranch is a master-planned community on the west side of Elgin, about 25 miles east of downtown Austin off US 290. Its reason for existing is simple: price. With builder-published base pricing starting in the mid $200s in July 2026, it’s one of the very few places left in the metro where a new home starts with a 2. The amenity package is legitimate for the price point — clubhouse, pool, trails, sports courts, green space — and sections carry names like The Ridge, The Canyons, and The Overlook as phases open.
The homes
This is entry and first-move-up production housing on 40–50 ft lots, roughly 0.11–0.15 acres, homes close together. Century Communities and Trophy Signature are the active builders, with plans running from three-bedroom single-stories around 1,400 sq ft to five-bedroom plans near 2,700 sq ft. Published pricing spans the mid $200s to the mid $300s; rosters and section assignments rotate by phase, so verify who’s building where. One honest note: at this price point, base specs are lean. Walk the model with a checklist and price the upgrades you’d actually want — the delta between base and as-built is where budgets slip.
Location, schools, and the drive
Trinity Ranch is zoned to Elgin ISD; verify current campus assignments, as the district is adding schools to keep up with growth. Elgin itself is a working small town with a historic main street and famous barbecue, not a big-box suburb — that’s either charm or inconvenience depending on your week. Count on 35–50 minutes to central Austin on US 290, about 25–30 minutes to the airport or Tesla via SH 130, and 20 minutes to Samsung in Taylor. For the full rundown on Elgin’s trajectory, read our Elgin guide, and compare Harvest Ridge across town, which competes at a similar price point.
